Terms, privacy, and the directory model

Camella is a directory of companies, not of people.

This is the current public document. It covers the terms of use, the privacy policy, and the data model behind the directory. The public company directory at /empresas needs no account. By registering or using the authenticated product you accept these terms.

Camella is a product of ARCANE ECHOES TECHNOLOGIES S.A.S., tax ID (RUC) 1793216210001, simplified stock company (SAS), status ACTIVA, registered office in Quito, Pichincha, Ecuador, as published by the Superintendencia de Compañías, Valores y Seguros (SCVS). Contact: soporte@camella.app.

Version: 2026-09-04

A directory of companies

We index legal entities. Data-protection law attaches to natural persons, and Camella is not built as a people database.

The registry is authoritative

Every record cites the authority that published it, and section 6 links to each one. Corrections to registry content are made at the registry.

Your account data is deletable

Write to soporte@camella.app and we delete your account PII. We keep anonymized usage. Still-public official listings are not erased.

You pay for the engine

Search, filters, financial parsing, coordinates, AI, and Pro+ contacts are the product. Public identity facts stay free at /empresas.

1. Operator identity

Camella is the product. The party you contract with is an Ecuadorian SAS registered in Quito.

Camella is a PRODUCT. The contracting party and the controller of user personal data and of any personal data that appears in the directory is ARCANE ECHOES TECHNOLOGIES S.A.S., tax ID (RUC) 1793216210001, SAS, ACTIVA, Quito, Pichincha, Ecuador (SCVS). Contact: soporte@camella.app.

We do not publish an invented street address. The registered office is the one on file with the Superintendencia de Compañías, Valores y Seguros (SCVS).

2. Acceptance

Looking up a company is open to everyone. Accepting these terms is what unlocks the authenticated product.

By clicking “Accept and Continue” or using Camella’s authenticated services, you (the “User”) agree to be bound by these terms with ARCANE ECHOES TECHNOLOGIES S.A.S. Under Ecuador’s Electronic Commerce Law, this agreement has legal effect.

Public company-identity lookup at /empresas does not require an account. Access to the authenticated dossier, the agent, contacts, and exports is conditioned on accepting these terms and on the plan you buy. By accepting you confirm you are of legal age, have authority to act for your organization, and will use the information lawfully.

3. Camella is a directory of companies, not of people

The product line and the legal mechanism point the same way: we index companies.

Camella is a directory of companies, not of people. The product line and the legal mechanism point the same way: we index companies. We are not a people database. Never invert that slogan.

In EU law, GDPR Recital 14 illustrates that that family of statutes is built around the natural person. We do not invoke that recital for Argentina: Ley 25.326 does apply to companies. See the jurisdictions section.

4. Three layers of directory data

Company identity, registry-published officers, and open-web enrichment carry different legal weight. These are disclosures, not display filters.

These three layers are disclosures about the legal character of the data. They are not on-screen filters, field-hide lists, or a different paywall per country. The product offers the same SKU in every live jurisdiction and shows the directory fields it already has.

  • Layer 1 — Company identity (name, tax or registry ID, status, registered office, source): not personal data. The public teaser at /empresas is free. A company cannot require Camella to erase a listing the official registry still publishes. Fix it at the registry.
  • Layer 2 — Officers, representatives, partners, or shareholders as they appear on the official registry: personal data, but the State published them so the public knows who represents the firm. Ecuador’s LOPDP art. 2(g) excludes legal-person identifying data; art. 2 in fine allows name, role, and professional address, email, or phone of representatives, partners, or shareholders. The registry is the source of truth. Social profiles only corroborate.
  • Layer 3 — People who publicly associate with a company on the open web: personal data they made public to be found as that company’s people. The research agent may fetch what a search engine already returns. No invented emails. No login-walled scrape. No Facebook personal life. A person may ask soporte@camella.app to suppress Camella-only enrichment. Registry facts stay.

5. Directory-subject rights

There are three distinct paths: fix registry content at the registry, ask us to suppress person-level enrichment, or ask us to delete your account data.

Companies (layer 1) send corrections to the official registry of their jurisdiction. Camella does not rewrite the meaning of a still-public official listing.

ARCO / habeas-data rights of people (account data and layers 2–3) use the same address, in Spanish, English, or Portuguese. The data subject is not charged to see their own file. We do not claim AAIP art. 21 inscription or any other controller registration we have not filed. The statutory response window per jurisdiction is listed in section 6.

  • Registry content (layer 1): write to the competent authority for your jurisdiction, linked in section 6. A still-public official listing is not erased from the directory.
  • Person-level enrichment (layer 3): write to soporte@camella.app with your name and, if you can, the company you are associated with. We will (a) say what Camella-only enrichment we hold and (b) suppress that enrichment — layer 3 and any data Camella added that is not on the registry. Registry facts (layer 2) and still-public official listings stay. This is not an in-product field-hide control.
  • Account-holder data: we delete user PII on request by writing to soporte@camella.app. We retain anonymized or aggregated usage to improve the product, plus tax and security legal holds. That path does not erase still-public official listings.

6. Live jurisdictions, sources, and caveats

Six live markets, one plan catalog, and a different statute in each. Open a market to see what applies and to reach its official registry.

Live product jurisdictions are Ecuador, Mexico, the United States, Brazil, Colombia, and Argentina. The same plan catalog (Free, Pro, Pro+, Enterprise) applies in all of them. Chile and the United Kingdom are not live markets; if mentioned, they are upcoming coverage, not production.

Free, Pro, Pro+, and Enterprise are the commercial product. We charge for the engine (search, filters, financials parsing, coordinates, AI), not for access to public facts. Pro+ contacts are personal data (PII). Charging for those plans is not a data-protection defence. /empresas and /api/public are public: visitors do not need an account to look up company identity.

Camella is not a credit bureau, consumer-reporting agency, or credit-information company. We do not issue FCRA consumer reports (United States), Ley 1266 credit reports (Colombia), Ley 25.326 art. 26 solvency files (Argentina), or operate as a sociedad de información crediticia (SIC) in Mexico.

7. Official sources and accuracy

The issuing authority owns accuracy. We normalize and cite; we do not restate what the record means.

Company information comes from official sources or public registries in each jurisdiction. Camella normalizes, structures, and presents those data. We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of the original information; that duty sits with the issuing authority.

Corrections to registry content go to the competent authority. Camella does not change the meaning of official data.

The authority, identifier scheme, and registry link for each live market are in section 6, and every company page cites the source its facts came from.

8. Research agent

The agent reads the open web. It does not log in, invent contacts, or mine personal life — and its answers still need verifying.

The agent may retrieve what a search engine already returns about a company and about people who publicly associate with it (layer 3). It does not log in, does not bypass login walls, does not invent emails or titles, and does not extract Facebook personal life.

AI answers can contain errors. You must verify critical information before using it. Camella does not warrant absolute accuracy of the AI.

9. Account-holder personal data

Ask and we delete your account PII. What survives is anonymized usage with no identifiers, tax and security holds, and the public registry listings that were never yours.

The controller of your account data is ARCANE ECHOES TECHNOLOGIES S.A.S., RUC 1793216210001, Quito, Pichincha, Ecuador. Inquiries and encarregado de dados (provisional): soporte@camella.app. Portuguese channel: /pt/legal.

We delete user PII on request by writing to soporte@camella.app. That ARCO / habeas-data path deletes or irreversibly anonymizes account-holder data we control. It does not erase still-public official listings.

We retain anonymized or aggregated usage to improve the product (feature usage counts, funnel, latency, error rates, country of the looked-up company, plan tier as a non-identifying bucket). No user_id, email, IP, or device id remains on that retained analytics.

Users versus directory subjects: (a) account-holder PII we delete on request; (b) official company identity (RUC / RFC / CIK / CNPJ / NIT / CUIT pages) we do not erase because it is still public at the registry — Camella is a directory of companies, not of people; (c) natural-person enrichment (Pro+ contacts) can be Camella-only suppressed by writing to soporte@camella.app without taking the company off the directory. The product does not hide directory fields.

Legal holds: we may retain what Ecuador’s SRI (and similar tax authorities) actually require — for example e-invoices and tax books for the statutory period — and limited security or fraud records. Those holds are not a named account. When the period ends, we delete or anonymize them. This document does not promise a Mexican CFDI or a Brazilian NFS-e.

We process the data needed to authenticate you, provide the service, bill (tax duties), monitor permitted use, and improve the product. Processing is based on performance of the contract and, where applicable, consent, under the LOPDP and any other law that applies to your residence.

  • Deleted or irreversibly anonymized: profile, email, auth credentials and sessions, saved lists and searches tied to the user, billing contact name/email we stored, marketing preferences, Pro+ seat identity.
  • Not deleted: company directory records. Those are public registry facts, not the user’s data.
  • Retained without identifiers: anonymized product-improvement telemetry as described above.
  • Essential authentication and session cookies while the account exists. This document does not operate a third-party marketing banner.
  • Data may be hosted on vendor infrastructure (Supabase, Google Cloud) outside Ecuador, with appropriate security measures.
  • If a breach affects your rights, we will notify as required by applicable law.

10. License

You get a revocable licence to use the software for company research. The code stays ours.

You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the software for legitimate commercial and company-research purposes. Intellectual property in the code belongs to ARCANE ECHOES TECHNOLOGIES S.A.S. under Ecuador’s COESCCI.

  • You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or sublicense the software.
  • You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software.
  • You may not use the software to build competing products or services.

11. Responsible use

Use the data for legitimate business, under the privacy law that applies to you.

Use the information for legitimate commercial purposes and in line with applicable law, including the LOPDP and the privacy or habeas-data laws of your jurisdiction.

  • Do not share credentials or automate access without authorization.
  • Do not bulk-extract data to resell or republish it outside your legitimate business.
  • Do not attack the platform or interfere with other users.
  • Do not use the information for illegal, fraudulent, or rights-violating activity.
  • Report security incidents or misuse to soporte@camella.app.

12. Payments and plans

Prices are in USD. Same four SKUs everywhere. Ecuadorian domestic supplies add 15% IVA.

Prices are in United States dollars (USD). Domestic Ecuadorian supplies add 15% IVA under the SRI. Export of services may be 0% when LRTI art. 56 n. 14 applies. Foreign B2B VAT/GST is generally the buyer’s reverse-charge (Argentina, Colombia, United Kingdom, Chile). This document does not promise a Mexican CFDI or a Brazilian NFS-e.

The SKUs are Free, Pro, Pro+, and Enterprise, the same in every live jurisdiction. We charge for the engine (search, filters, financials parsing, coordinates, AI), not for access to public facts. Contacts are personal data (PII). Charging for those plans is not a data-protection defence: it is the commercial model.

  • Subscriptions renew until you cancel.
  • Charges already made are non-refundable unless the law or an explicit guarantee says otherwise.
  • We may suspend access if you exceed limits or harm service stability.

13. Availability

We aim high but do not warrant uninterrupted service.

We aim for high availability. We do not warrant uninterrupted service and are not liable for force majeure, infrastructure failures (Supabase, Google Cloud), maintenance, or required updates.

14. Limitation of liability

Validate critical facts before you act on them. Non-waivable small-business rights still stand.

To the fullest extent permitted by Ecuadorian law, ARCANE ECHOES TECHNOLOGIES S.A.S. is not liable for indirect damages, lost profits, data loss, business decisions based on the directory or the AI, or misuse of the platform. This clause stays reasonable: it does not wipe non-waivable rights of a Chilean pyme under Ley 20.416 or of a Mexican micro-enterprise if the LFPC ever applies.

You use the service at your own risk and must validate critical information before commercial, legal, or financial decisions.

15. Governing law

Ecuadorian law, Quito courts, after mediation. B2B buyers are not consumers here.

This agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of Ecuador. Forum: competent courts of Quito, Ecuador, after mediation. Legal pages exist in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. B2B customers who contract Camella in the ordinary course of their business are not consumers for these clauses. If a mandatory rule (Chile’s Ley 20.416, or Mexico’s LFPC if it ever bites) gives a pyme or micro-enterprise non-waivable remedies, those remedies prevail.

16. Changes

We version this document and notify a new one in the product.

We may update these terms for regulatory, product, or coverage changes. We will notify a new version in the product. The current version is the one on /legal. If you do not accept it, you must stop using the authenticated service and may cancel under the applicable cancellation terms.
